Jewellery

Ring, Serbia
Collection of Jewellery in Ethnographic Museum of Serbia consists of some 3 000 items. Majority of them were made in 19th century. Part of the collection belongs, according to the time of manufacture to earlier periods, i.e. 17th and 18th centuries, and they originate from the wider territory. They used to be worn as a family valuables, and were inherited through generations through the 19th century and in first decades of 20th century.
Chest jewelry, Pec, Serbia
It is presumed that most of the items are medieval and even older. Jewellery was worn by ruling class as well as by ordinary people. The collection is divided into four larger groups:
  • head jewellery,
  • chest jewellery, 
  • hand jewellery and 
  • belt jewellery.
